Baby Girl - Poetry Writing

Oh baby girl, I do not wish to raise you

in a world partitioned unjustly,

and where people don't know what's happening

on the other side where the other half lives.

Oh baby girl, the difference is infuriating.

The scale's unbalanced; too much weight on one side,

and too little on the other side. The ignorance and greed

accomplishes nothing but further ignorance and greed.

Oh baby girl, I hope you can see the difference

between the two partitioned worlds.

I hope you can act justly and bring about great change.

I hope you will be of those to pass on great knowledge to the world.

Oh baby girl, I love you.

It's my job to raise you, to care for you and

to educate you so that you will be of those informed. I love

you more than the world. I know you will make a difference.
